Pierce Police Athletic League Opens New PAL Center! - It is a gym, a stage, and a classroom all rolled into one...it’s the new PAL Center located at 1401 North 2nd Street in historic downtown Fort Pierce! All local youth ages 11-17 are invited to participate in the fantastic programs provided by the Fort Pierce Police Athletic League...boxing, drama, dance, music, arts & crafts, and so much more! The PAL Center is open 5:30-7:30pm, Monday – Thursday; youth and their parents are always welcome to stop by the Center to learn more about these programs. The Police Athletic League is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, nationally approved juvenile crime prevention program providing at-risk youth wholesome alternative activities; tax deductible donations are appreciated and volunteers are needed. *Boat Smart/Safe Boating Class - Port St. Lucie Power Squadron is offering a two session Boat Smart Safe Boating Course on Saturday, May 17, from 9am – 4pm and Sunday, May 18, from 2-4pm at First Presbyterian Church of Port St. Lucie, 2240 SE Walton Rd., Port St. Lucie. The course will cover basic seamanship, navigational aids, knot tying, and much more. Passing grades may lower insurance premiums; students completing the course will meet the Florida F.W.C. boat license requirements, and for new members, the course cost will be credited toward your PSL Power Squadron membership fee. The tradition of the banquet is to recognize local individuals for their humanitarian efforts; this year’s banquet will honor Robert and Eleanora McCabe, founders of the Robert F. and Eleanora W.
